B20b

Post by 1970145swagon » Sat Mar 09, 2019 4:23 pm

Hi me and a friend of mine have a 145s with a b20b in it. It has been sitting for 20 years. The motor was rebuilt then it sat. We cranked it over and it dumped oil at the back of the engine. We thought it was a rear main seal but when we pull the flywheel off. There's a little hole in the back of the block of the engine. it's above the crank and to the right of it. that leaks all the way down the back of the engine. Does anyone know what that is and what I'm supposed to put in there to prevent it from leaking? Any help would be be appreciated.

As long as it fits and clears the flywheel. Go for a length that does not extend above the top of the hole. You might want to match the material so that you don't get Galvanic corrosion between the plug and the block.

Does this look like the correct plug? Aftermarket - Oil Galley Plug - B18 B20

It has been a long time but I think that is a 1/4 NPT plug (tapered threads called National Pipe Thread). The thread diameter is way larger than the dimension in the thread name. The size is for ID of iron pipe so the 1/8NPT is about 7/16 inch, 1/4NPT is between 9/16 and 5/8 inch, 3/8 NPT is about 11/16 inch hole.
