Very nice!
That was a serious restoration. There was another one via body shop mechanic. In Europe, there was another one wrote up on a blog.

Here's an interesting one: "In fact, just after we completed the restoration, this car was purchased by the CEO of Volvo North America, to join his private collection. Prior to being placed on display in a museum in Sweden, the car was used to represent Volvo history at the New York Auto Show in 2017.

If you know address, it might be possible at county appraiser to track down a name/address....if they are visited. Many states have this info online, but some states do not allow owner's name, etc., to be published online.

In Europe, for instance, a P1800 can be restored, for some 50 grand, to mint like new condition. Europeans are buying various Volvos here in US, and shipping them.

Oh, that's Adam Nonis in Seattle. He's a damn genius with fabrication - metal, shaping, molding, epoxy, foam, carbon fiber, leather, trim, machining - he can do it all. I ran across him on the BMW E30 forum because his rebodied 122 wagon sits on a strengthened E30 convertible chassis. His 122 was too rusted to continue restoration, and the width and wheelbase of an E30 was nearly perfect.

He did most of this work in his driveway, under a tent.

Decided to make a custom BMW valve cover as a placeholder. He's going to swap in a Volvo white block eventually. So it's a Volvo in a BMW in a Volvo.

^^^ I remember this car on Bring a Trailer. A textbook restoration it seems. I never liked Panasports on a 122 - just a personal bias. They look good with wide steelies and OEM dog dish hub caps, 240 turbo wheels, Torq Thrusts, etc.

This is (sold?) a Seattle car, with 17" Dodge Charger Police wheels. crazy. Maybe a bit too much diameter. I'd say 15 to 16" max.

Steelies or steelies with hubcaps. And yes, 16" max. No whitewalls.

Perfect. Bliss.

I had factory steelies on my '78 924 Euro import grey market, and it looked great. I think that's when I fell in love with steelies... late 80s.

I recently found these 6x15 steelies for my Alfa Duetto spider. In '67, the normal wheel was 4.5x15, which is painfully skinny. The hub cap sticks way out from the wheel. There was a lot of cost cutting in the whole modern Alfa era, so all their cars got the same wheel.

I'll keep all my original wheels and little tires for show or "collectability," but it really needs some more meat. They were made long ago by a machine shop in NC with Alfa centers and rims - they were banded 1 1/2" on the outside. They were on a GTV coupe. My OEM hubcaps will sit exactly flush with the outer lip. 195/60-15 tires are nearly the exact diameter of the original 155-15s.

I just need to put the car back together...sigh...

Beautiful wheels. Steelies like those look better than 95% of aftermarket wheels of any type, and 50% of OEM wheels.

4.5"?!? OMG. Not to break an MVS writing taboo... but OMG.

There are a few dents on the lips. That isn't silver paint, it's just primer.

Compared to an old rusty spare I have. I had collected enough extras to have a set widened, but found these cheap. It's hard to find anyone these days who knows how to do that.
