1979 240D Auto trans Topic is solved

My 1979 240D has 94000 original miles on it. The transmission has begun to slip and continues to slip even though I have had it serviced. It sits idle for long spells in the desert area of Palm Springs. Are there transmission bands in this model that can be adjusted to reduce the slipping? I am not a mechanic. Any help will be appreciated.

It may be worth it to re-fit the tanny with a fluid cooler, if it does not already have one. Maybe switch to a slightly thicker fluid too.
