940t tranny problem

when car starts in morning takes about 1/2 mile of driving before trans upshifts just revs high when i drive once it starts its ok till car cools down

This may sound like a basic question, but did you check your trans fluid level? Low fluid level will do this. When was the last time the transmission was serviced with a fluid/filter change and internal adjustment? With these symtoms, at the minimum, a transmission service should be performed.

When you check the fluid level, look at the color of the fluid. It should be red. If it is reddish brown or just plain brown, and/or smells burnt, you may have more problems which will require more than a basic service.
