My 87 240 gl wagon is running extremely rich. Black soot out the exhaust and POOR idle and POOR fuel milage. Besides the 02 sensor, is there maybe a coolant/engine temp sensor that could also be making the beast run rich. I know the o2 sensor is at least 100,000 miles old or more. Please help, at these fuel prices I cant afford to only be getting 19 miles per gallon!
The reason i may suspect a temop sensor as well is that my shift points, (auto trans) have increased dramatically lately. (shifting at a much higher rpm as it does when it is winter time and first driving off)
Thanks
R U a fuel system expert? Please help!

Temp sensor, air mass meter, and fuel pressure regulator can also make your vehicle runs rich.
