I'm looking at buying a 740. It's not been looked after for last 3 years of previous owner. When starting it seemed to jolt. Is that just the filthy spark plugs kicking in? You need to press the accelerator to start it.
Also, the 'head' part of the speedometer is broke. I'd need to take it to a garage to get it fixed. Is this straightforward second hand part and hour labor like the guy selling it said.
It's a 2 liter manual. 112k but no history. Body and light blue metallic paint in good condition. Interior is not nice. I could get it clean spark plugs, change oil etc.
I'm looking at another one but it's a bit more rusty and the paint looks older - light metallic green, bit rusty on the arches. 260k miles, automatic. It was looked after very well for last year and runs smoothly. Really nice interior.
I'm concerned about if the one not looked after could have a worn out engine, although it doesn't knock. But the one with high miles could wear out?
Any advice what I should look at to help me decide?! They both work aout about
740 jolt when starting and other things. Topic is solved
