Thermostat replacement for 740 - same as for 850...?

Post by Guest »

I found the thermostat replacement page in the repair database:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/tstat.php:

I'm wondering if this would be very similar for a 740 (mine is an '87), or if there are any significant differences (other than the part). Any advice would be appreciated.

it is easier for the 740. Get the thermostat and a new rubber gasket. I put the new one in refill and then start to warm up the car. I have always had to loosen the bolts on the thermostat some to let the air out. I didn't the first time and the car started to overheat. Shouldn't take long at all.
