Coolant in my '97 960 Topic is solved

My coolant light came on and I was going to add some Prestone to the radiator, but my owners manual and the overflow tank cap say to use only Volvo coolant. I'd prefer not to pay $20.50 per gallon for coolant so my question is, will plain old fashioned coolant in a 50/50 mix with water damage my radiator/engine? Thanks!

If you read Haynes, you can use any coolant, as long as it has good quality. I have the four cylinder engine and have never used original coolant. So far, no problem. Haynes recommend the 50/50 mix for Volvo's
