86 240 GL and 91 240 rear ends Topic is solved

I have a 91 Volvo 240. the rear end went out in it. so we swapped the rearend from an 86 Volvo 240 GL. The rearend fits in just fine, but they are different. Drives just fine now. Only problem is the spedometer doesnt work right. when im going 30 it registers as 5 on the spedometer. What is the deal? How do I get the spedometer to work correctly?

This is just a guess, but the fact is when I bought an used speedometer from a junkyard I was informed that in my 740 from 1986 it was really important to get a speedometer from that year because the teth number for the sensor (placed in the rear end) differs from year to year.
