resetting 'check engine' light on '93 240

Post by johng »

Hi, I parked my '93 240 wagon on about 8" of snow and when I backed off it my check engine light came on. Is there any way to reset it without having to go to a dealer?
Thanks, John

you can certainly turn out the light but first read the code. It may be of no signifigance or it may be very important. If you get a manual for your car it will tell you how to read the code and how to turn off the light. Usually disconnecting the battery will turn it out but by all means read the code first.

mine is before the check engine light 1988. The diagnostic box for your car is on the drivers inner fender and there is a jumper and a light to read code and reset but I do not remember the procedure. A manual will tell you how to go about this. If I can find something on this I will post a link.
