water in the cabin

Post by portrona »

Hi,
I have a 740GLE. 120,000 miles. I have discovered a small pond in the rear driver-side foot-well plus water-logged carpet undermatting everywhere else. The sunroof drains fine through all four channels. Cant tell where it is coming from. Anyone got any ideas?

In both front foot-wells you probably have airvents on the side walls, to be opened manually by a lever. If the vent frame is broken or not totally tight assembled to the wall, water will come in and get under the carpet. I had to use silicone to make this tight. Take the panels away and check it by pooring water into the air intake of the car. The drain water will pass outside this vent frame, and if it is not totally tight, some of it will get in and under the carpets.
