Am looking for my first set of winter tires for my 91 turbo sedan. Really wanted WinterFires by Firestone, but they are hard to come by. I know that Gilslaveds (sp?) are the standard issue but I can't really afford the $85-90 price tag that I've gotten at the local dealer. One general tire dealer really pushed the Hakkapellita in place of these two??
Please provide any feedback on tires - good experiences or bad.
1st choice - 185/65/15
2nd choice - 195-60-15
Thanks so much!

First off on my 89, I got rid of the 195's and put on 205-70-r15 it gave the car a more aggressive look and didnt change the speedometer reading or the handeling. If I were you I would got to the local tire dealer and tell him you want a standard set of winter tires. dont get anything special because all tires wear...would you rather wear out a $200 set or a $100 set...the only difference i have found in tires if the price.

I have a 1997 V90 (RWD). Until now I had difficulty driving in Michigan's winter condition with All Season Tires. This year I bought a pair of Blizzak tires for the rear wheels and am very impressed what a difference winter tires make. It grabs the road like no any other tire. Before purchased the tires, checked Consumer Reports, but everyone in Michigan recommend Blizzak. I am glad I spent $200 for my safety and comfort.
In snow, my V90 (RWD) drives better then my 1999 S70 (FWD)
