cooling system '85 240 DL Topic is solved

I'm an 18 year old college student working on my first car, an '85 240 DL. It overheated and I had to replace the water pump. On the test drive it overheated again and cracked the radiator all the way down one side. What now, besides the obvious need to replace the radiator? Why did it happen?

It is probably bacause the radiator was plugged. I replaced mine ('81 240) with a $100 plastic radiator. It works find. I first R&Rd the old radiator. He told me several tubes had to be tied off and that decreased my cooling capacity too much. You car is old enough to get another rad.

I replaced the rad and the thermostat over the weekend and things seem to be fine. Thanks for the reply.
