1996 960 wagon

My 960 has developed a quirk lately. When you turn the key to crank sometimes its like you get a dead short and other times it cranks fine. It's like either there is a bad ground somewhere or not getting enough power to crank. The battery is new, I have pulled the starter (not fun) and had it checked out to be fine. Is there a common problem with the ignition switch or something that anyone knows about. I can turn the switch over and over and it will finally catch but I don't know how much longer this will work. Any help?

Electrical switch is needed. It sits on the opposite of the key(ignition). Take off the steering casing and it will be on the left of the steering column. It cost about $50.00 at Volvo delearship. It takes 20 minutes to install.
