Fuel Capacity V40 D2 2016

Hi there I’ve got the problem that my Volvo should have either 40l oder 62l of fuel capacity that is something i still try to figure out. Either way it tells me to refuel because it’s empty but I can only fit 25l which is way below either fuel capacity’s does anybody know how to fix this or what might cause the problem ?

Do you have an AWD or a FWD car? We don't get that model over here, but most older Volvo AWD cars have what we call a saddle tank which is almost like 2 tanks. To be able to measure the fuel level the tank has 2 level sensors, one in each side. If one has failed, it could be the issue you are having that only one side is measuring.

If it is FWD, it would typically have a single tank, which may mean the level sensor is bad.

The only other issue might be if the evap system has an issue which is not allowing air to escape from the tank while filling.
