Rear door handle removal

So I have a central locking issue on my 2008 XC70, P3 chassis. I need to replace the rear door module, which means removing the outer door handle.. it appears that on this particular model the normal torx screw retaining the outer handle wasn’t used. Instead there is some sort of catch mechanism.. I can see a vertical bar through the hole where the Torx normally is, but no one seems to know what to do with it. Has anyone had any experience of this release mechanism? Thanks in advance
