2007 S80 3.2 NA FWD - Oil Change

So, I have done the S80 oil change twice now. The filter canister is on top of the engine. It is a challenge to access. I have, however found success in moving the power steering reservoir out of the way and going to town with a 36 MM socket and long extension. Working the used filter and housing out is tough, but not impossible, as is working the new stuff in.

I have read that the dealer-recommended procedure involves removing the passenger side headlight to do the filter change. Is that really what they do? I can't imagine it is easier to do that than to play a bit of contortionist-for-a-day.

Some do and some don't. The power steering res is always moved. The header is different on S60 as they use the magnesium version and it gets in the way more.

This is also the second time that I have felt like the owner's manual spec of 7.3 liters of engine oil (roughly 7.7 quarts) is inaccurate on the low side.

You don't remove the pass. side headlight assy., but just slide it forward an an inch or two.

But why if I can do the change without touching the headlight? I guess as Jimmy says, that advice really pertains to the S60 with the mag header.
