Bought a 2010 S80 T6 AWD, Just test drive 08 C300 and now torn?

Post by tpdtopcop » Sat Feb 29, 2020 5:58 pm

Hi all,.

Bought a 2010 S80 T6 AWD with 104,000 miles. Wanted a 08-12 Mercedes C300 but at time I bought the Volvo this past January couldn't find one. Recently just test drove an 08 C300 and at least to me drives much nicer suspension wise. Should I trade the S80 in? Anyone have any insight about the C300 vs S80?

No way! If you want a Benz lease it! I'm not a fan of the all wheel drive, but would never trust a used German luxury vehicle. You know by now if the Volvo is good, correct? If it is why roll the dice! June

I've owned many Benzes & some Volvos as well. I just bought a 2010 XC70 T6 & love it. From a ton of experience, I can assure you that the above opinion on used Mercedes can be disregarded.

A used Mercedes can be an extremely sensible purchase, & the C300 is a great value these days on the used market -- because it was so successful; they sold a ton of them. Only buy one that has been well and regularly maintained & has receipts/carfax to demonstrate the fact.

OTOH... you've already bought your S80, which means that you'd go through trouble & probably expense as well if you decided to switch. I can't see why to do that.

In particular, I don't understand what you mean by "drives much nicer suspension wise." Softer? Firmer? Quieter? Corners better? What...? Did you have your S80 inspected before purchase -- i.e. to see whether it had any problems (including suspension problems)?

I agree with PIF a lot more information is needed

Is the C300 RWD or AWD?

What tires are on both cars?

Does the S80 feel faster accelerating from 40 MPH to 70 MPH if not then your S80 likely needs some TLC.

I looked up the C300 and it tested about 91 MPH at the end of a standing quarter mile (This is S80 3.2 performance not S80 T6)

I really like my 2010 S80 3.2 and I wouldn't trade it for a 2010 C300 and the first new car I ever bought was a Mercedes C-class

Good Luck

Paul
