Taconic Parkway to NYC Fall 2019

Post by abscate »

Leaves just coming in end of September. Such a contrast of rural and urban in our beautiful state.

Elizabeth the T5 returned 29 mpg since speeds are55-60 mph on this beautiful parkway

Getting street parking in Manhattan at 120th street, awesome !!

Nice images Steve. I agree the Taconic is especially beautiful this time of year.

If you go a little further east into CT you can go up Rt. 7 all the way to the Mass border. This is even more picturesque.

Taconic is a beautiful ride, especially this time of the year, it's a shame over the years it's become a commuter racetrack at 7 on the morning. Just don't get a flat tire while on it.

I didn’t know that Glenn. I thought Parks enforced the 55 pretty tightly? I saw a lot of cops.

The T5 fuel economy soars if you keep boost off under 60, I lifted from 25-26 to 29-30 mpg
Most of the time my trips to NYC are with two big Volvo diesels powering a generator, poweringAmtrak.

I had a flat tire on a section of it north of 84 and had to pull off in the grass to change it. I went exploring in the woods to find a flat and big enough rock to support the jack for my truck. Flat was on the drivers side so I at least got cooled off by the cars whizzing by, it was 95 degrees. Sometimes I'll take a Sunday ride on it from Po'town north, it is a beautiful ride.
