Heading out in the morning on a roadtrip in my S80 T6

Post by June » Tue May 07, 2019 10:03 pm

I got the news a family member who lives out west is on life support with brain damage and his plug will be pulled once all family has arrived. He fell down the stairs at home and damaged his neck and brain. They did surgery on his brain to no avail. I am really upset and worried about his wife of over 20 years who is my Cousin who I am close to.

You never know when a emergency will require a long road trip. A couple weeks back I put Baby my 2004 S80 T6 into Volvo for her 180K service with a transmission fluid exchange with Genuine Volvo fluid of course. I had forgotten to mention the squeaky front brake so I took her back yesterday for that. Thanks to the fact my dealer does all my repairs Volvo warranted the pads and rotors at no cost to me though they were replaced 25K miles and more than a year ago. Volvo does take care of their customers.

So thanks to proper maintenance I have no worrys about the car. She is always ready to rule the road! Photos of my trip (the pleasant parts) to come. I will be checking out places on the non hospital/funeral part of my trip. June

There are places out west where the speed limit is 80 - 85 but traffic flows 90 - 99.

Well I've been running between 90 and 100. The S80 smooth quiet ride feels like I'm floating on a magic carpet. In central Mississippi now. Munchy has been sleeping away in the passenger seat. I'm now on a 4 lane highway so 75 to 80 will be it!

Cuteness break! I drove through tornado weather earlier. Green sky, whipping rain, and road signs violently moving side to side! One of the few times driving I actually was terrified! Then branches were flying across my path and the road was really covered in water. At least the undercarriage got a good cleaning! June

Thank you Abscate!

Ok they pulled the plug on Jeff about 7 hours ago and he started breathing on his own. To everyone else they had faith that the ventilation machine was responsible for his continued life. I have a different viewpoint. Right now I would appreciate all my Volvo friends to stand with me in believing Jeff will wake up and recover please. That's as non religious of a way I can ask. So whatever your belief system is, shout out for Jeff's recovery!

Year after year I fall in love with my Volvo all over again! After 15+ years and 182K miles, that's amazing! Looking at her in the Holiday Inn parking lot I could not help but admire her beautiful Swedish design! Thank You my friends out there on MVS, June

You are right about talk radio. Actually this trip I have downloaded into this phone all 1,400 or so CBS Radio Mystery Theater episodes. They ran from 1974 to 1982. I used to record them off of the radio when I was a kid on reel to reel tape back then. I downloaded them off of a site for free several months ago and got a cassette adapter from Walmart. So this trip it has been CBS Mystery Theater this trip. They sure pass the time by quickly and hearing the old advertisements is funny. Like AIDS back pain pills    that sure would not fly today! June
