1999 S70 wheel size confusion

Post by amblerman » Thu Jan 04, 2018 9:39 pm

Hi Folks

I have a base 1999 s70 and was thinking of picking up a spare set of rims.

I read up on some common threads about wheel size and I thought I understood what to look for.
From this thread viewtopic.php?f=39&t=59248 I got to see a bunch of standard rims for the s70 and the default/standard size seems to be 6.5x15x43 . Great. Then I went searching for used rims and got confused. :D

I saw an ad for some used volvo rims that I couldn't find on that page.

They looked like this:

but the size is apparently 6.5x15x52.5

I've found several references that point to a lot of volvo models (850, S70, s60, s80 etc) having a max offset of ~43.

So I'm assuming those rims I've pictured with a 52.5 offset will NOT fit my 1999 s70 properly. Correct?

Does anyone know what those rims were for?

Thanks

Andy

Look closer, the size is 6.5x16x52.5 not 6.5x15x52.5. Look at the bottom .. loops all the way around .. it is s Six not a Five.

The style is called "Caligo" and was used on the C30, S40, V40, V50. It is a Silver painted, Aluminum Alloy Wheel.
The Volvo part number is 86982204.

I've found several references that point to a lot of Volvo models (850, S70, S60, S80 etc) having a max offset of ~43.

For your 1999 S70, depends on who you ask. Some say 35 to 50 mm others 34 to 45mm. I would not chance 52.5 mm.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it was a 15 because the top of the number didn't look like the top of the 6 in 6.5.

At least it didn't when I first looked at it. The longer I stare at it the more it's turning into a very clear 16 in my mind. :-)

Oh well, off to look some more.
