I remember seeing one of these at Expo ‘86 in Vancouver before it was in production and it seemed to futuristic to be true. It’s a Pontiac Transport, Chevy’s sister ship was a Lumina Van. The year would be 1987 or 88.

I just saw a White Transport last week, when I was traveling for Thanksgiving. It was in Tennessee. Growing up we called them "Dusterbusters"

The judges have awarded the prize to our Britcar wizard Neil.

Healey’s (pre-Austin-). These were works entries for the 1948 Mille Miglia race in Italy. The very green coupe is a 1947 Healey Westland B with a Riley 2.4 iron block four cylinder. It was Count Giovanni “Johnny” Lurani’s car. He and his co-driver broke the rear suspension panhard rod but continued, winning the Touring class.

The silver-green convertible is a ‘48 Westland Tourer (essentially an Elliot with the roof cut off), driven in the MM by Healey himself, with his son Geoffrey navigating. They came in 9th overall and 2nd in the “unlimited-capacity sports car” class despite losing their lights. In 1949, it won the Touring class, 2 minutes ahead of the 2nd place Alfa Romeo after 1000 miles.

Westland was an aircraft manufacturer and was happy to have the contract work after the war.
Elliot was a Reading-based furniture manufacturer, which produced the ash body frames. Healey got a better deal by including their names. The bodies were aluminium as steel was still rationed and aluminum was plentiful.

In this Octane magazine article from 2016, they were being prepped for that years’ MM reenactment tour.
