It has the optional “Infinite Multizone package,” and “Where we’re going, we don’t need no stinking cup holders!”

OK, here’s a trick question!

I really like these. Not sure what they’re like to live with as an everyday classic, vs say a BMW Bavaria.

It is a P6 Rover 3500 V8. Pretty solid old cars with a strong following in the UK. Engine was derived from a Buick V8 that was cancelled in the early 1960's and went on in the UK to be used in many vehicles up until mid 1990's in various versions.

The P6 was a very comfortable car to be in and a decent turn of speed. Unusual front suspension that had the shocks on levers mounted horizontally on the firewall area.

They were sold in the US with an additional hood scoop for more cold air for the engine in hot climates.

Parts are still out there and as far as I know engine parts and tuning stuff too. These were used in cars like TVR's and Range Rovers.

If you can find one from a dry state (rust was an issue on any UK cars of the era) it should be a fun project. Not sure if the engines were updated to allow use of unleaded gas without the use of an additive. Maybe for the US market in later versions?

Interesting fact, the original development of the P6 was developed to have a jet engine!

Correct!

There’s a twist with this one - this is a 1970 Rover P6, LHD, N American spec. It was pulled off the production line by engineers to become the prototype for the 3500S, and is the first V8 manual that Rover ever built.

They then used it for 5 years as a development car and “it ended up with an experimental SD1 engine and 5-speed LT77 gearbox, both of which it still has.”

I’m suddenly feeling better about home security while traveling. Last night some deer poked their noses in amd Junos WOOF shook the whole house.
