True Corvair story.
It was 1960. I know because many workers were repairing buildings on my families farm after a tornado. I was 4 years old.
One day that summer a worker shows up to work in a different car. Everyone had to look it over including me. The marveled over its rear engine and trunk in front (no one called it a frunk).
I don't remember what name they called the car, but the shape I remember and the details identify it as a Corvair.

Corvairs were easy to finance as they let you rollover the loan….

Four carbs! What kind were they?
They were single barrel Rochesters, connected to a single input through rods and linkages. The 4 carb engine had 140 Hp, the 2 carb had 110 Hp, they also offered a 180 Hp turbo in "corsa" trim. The turbo cars were extremely fast with a disproportionally large turbo, they didn't get boost till about 3500 RPM. The temperature guage went off the scale at 660 F, shortly after that the engine would exceed the temperature that it was manufactured at if you didn't get off the gas! Fun cars to drive.
