Car talk: Is this a reasonable price?

Post by CIK7 »

So yeah. Im sitting here squealing like a little girl because not only did I find Matthews red 97 855R for sale, but I finally got a hold of someone, 4 months later, selling a white 97 855R for parts. And I want it. But the price seems steep. The interior is almost pristine, but appears to be missing the rear butt cushion. The exterior is not pristine but pretty nice. The chassis is a rusty example from Minnesota moved south. Is $1800-2k reasonable for such a parts car?

This price sounds high for a parts car, unless you know it has lots of good parts you really want.

$500 max for a parts car. Anything you can’t sell in a month is a loss. The real value in a parts car is parts you can use that you don’t have to buy. If you can’t see that saving in stuff you need, today, pass.

My first part out was a 1999 that turned out to be a golden goose. I needed a VVT hub and I got buyers for engine, trams, fenders doors, tailgate in month one. Never again. Add a storage unit for parts and suddenly your $500 parts car costs $200 a month, too.
