'98 V70 5 Speed FWD Base, $1500 Northern NJ Topic is solved

Bum left knee encourages sale -- clutch isn't helping things. '98 V70 5 Speed. 346K on clock but engine was swapped at 243,303 with a unit (from Erie Vovo) having 89 K miles so roughly 257k on engine. Regular 7500-10k mile oil changes with Mobil 1. I put about 25 k miles a year on it and 65-70% is highway mileage.

Newish clutch. Timing & serp. belts plus water pump done recently. I've kept the car up. Comes with two sets of Cetus wheels including winter tires on one set. Driver seat was recovered with an Elwood Industries kit about six years ago and hardly shows wear.

Newish heater core. Has a dent in the rear driver quarter panel and the big negative, AC does not work. Steering rack replaced, delta link bushings done, newish coolant reservoir. Front passenger seat bottom is beat, but I have a nice (used) replacement leather bottom cover. Car has a sunroof (fully functional) and XC style roof racks installed. Recent aftermarket (Bosal, I think, exhaust and CAT). The exhaust should last about another two years -- the aftermarkets only go for about 3 years, but they are a quarter of the price of OEM.

I would keep the car and run it to 500K or beyond, but I have a bum left knee and the clutch isn't helping things. If I kept it, I'd obviously fix the AC.

Ask is $1500. Silver sand metallic/pewter, with black leather interior. I have extra body panels available [hood, front and rear bumper covers, tailgate & door, all match the existing paint so could be used without painting] (not that it needs any, but inclusion of them will increase the price).

The car drives really sweetly and regularly returns c. 26 mpg/tank with lots of highway driving at 75-80 mph. At 75 rides like it is on rails. Valid, current NJ inspection sticker.

Car located in Northwestern NJ, but I work in Newark so could meet a prospective buyer there as well.

New clutch and internal slave cylinder at 303,000 -- Feb. 2016 -- original clutch went for c. 230K miles, this one has lots of remaining life
New lower radiator hose and expansion tank at 305,000 -- April 2016
Rebuilt steering rack -- May 2015
New Stabilus tailgate struts at 322,000 -- Dec. 2016
Ignition tune-up at 322,000 -- Dec. 2016
Timing belt, serp. belt, water pump, idlers & tensioner - Dec. 2016 @322,520 mi. -- not due for another 50K miles.
Front & rear O2 sensors Bosch, 12/2016 and 1/2017 respectively
Heater core -- Behr at 339,285 -- 10/15/17
Updated with '99-2000 style side markers

No CEL, No SRS light, no stored codes.

I have a used A/C compressor included in the sale. I probably have a good Bosch MAF sensor as well that I'd include since I can't use it on my '99s.
Plus lots of other regular maintenance during the life of the car.

No pictures yet because it is in the shop getting new rear brakes: rotors, calipers and pads. No time to do them myself. Depending on weather, I'll try to get some pics over the weekend.

Forgot to mention, fuel pump was replaced as well. Rear brakes - calipers, rotors (Zimmerman) and pads (Akebono) just done, but it needs front brakes as well. I hope to do those shortly.

A/C Fixed. Apparently when I had readjusted the compressor clutch gap and replaced the drier, I had not managed to seat one of the drier connections past the first o-ring so there was a slight leak in the system. My mechanic diagnosed it, seated the line past the second o-ring and said it held vacuum at 29 mm, which is as low as his A/C machine goes. He charged and I now have ice cold A/C.

New rear springs (Lesjofors) and new Bilstein Touring rear shocks as well as new rear shock mounts. You won't find a P80 stick that drives nicer for the price.

Independent driving evaluation by one not involved in sale

Car starts easily cold and idles smoothly. Took it on a 15 drive mixed country driving, up to 60 mph
Clutch pulls smoothly and rides on release point without chattering or noise

Car tracks straight and steers well

Very slight groan from right front suspension - very subtle.

Exterior and interior in very good condition for age/mileage

Extensive documentation of work done by PO written into engine compartment - this car has been cared for.

Pictures taken by me, posted by permission of owner. Very slight dent on right rear quarter panel - I think that is a pop-out. Slight clear coat loss on hood on front right corner. Otherwise cosmetically 9/10
