Wtb engine for 98 v70 glt (Missouri, few hours drive )

Post by Gtin »

Hey guys, I'm in search of an engine for my 98 v70 glt, located outside of stl Missouri I am willing to drive a few hours to pick something up. Would prefer it be a known good engine. Trying to avoid junkyard finds that may have other issues if at all possible.

If you go to an LQT junkyard they can look online for you. Their database of cars is much bigger than the one you see online , so you have to have them search for you.

I've had my parts guy at work check with the junkyards we use, LKQ and Yancy, they don't have anything to fit it according to their database. I'm not sure of LQT? never heard of them. I may have to reach out to our suppliers directly and sort of expand the search beyond the VIN, as its only gonna pull up direct swaps, and not other options like the b5234 or a b5254 with vvt.

still though, I recently paid almost $2000 through them for an engine to fit my mothers 09 Toyota, a very popular 2gr-fe. i can only imagine what the kind of money they're gonna want for one of these "hard to find" Volvo engines. at that point it's cheaper to buy another v70. I'm hoping I may get lucky and find somebody who has one for sale.

I am going to a U-pull it that has a 1998 S70 and a NA motor. The last service for timing chain is 10/24 and it looks ok, I am pulling some more parts from it on Saturday. I will it out for you, its a few hours away from STL . It is in for passenger side damage, not bad, but enough to keep it from being fixable. it looked very good when I saw it last weekend. PM me you contact and I can text info over to you, etc, if this interest you at all.

I appreciate the offer, unfortunately the NA motor will not work for me, GLT has the turbo engine. I would be ok with either Turbo engine option, if you happen to come across one of those.

However, at this point I think I've just resigned to trying to save the engine I have. currently it has a blown head gasket, but was previously burning oil, I think I'm going to put the extra head I have on it now to make it through the winter, and then next summer I'll look into fixing the oil consumption. unless I find a good option for a used engine before I get the head off next weekend.
