My goodness. If everything is true, his price IMHO is not too high. I can see this going for that ask.

Unless repainted, the 1987 240 should not have clear coat paint. This should mean more durable paint in the AZ sun. However, there are no close up views of the top of the hood or roof. Paint may be worse than reported. And red is bad color for fade.

Dirk the wheels are "Galaxy" 16 inch. According this Scandix, OEM on 940 series. https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/s ... ebW9nKPRVh

Like most wheels that are not a strict match in terms of how a car rolled out of the factory, there's some small voice in my head whispering There's something off about that combo.

VLN, there are no closeups of the problem paint areas in the photo set. The last one looks maybe like there is haze, like it's an old respray going bad.

I think I might sound crazy to some, but this is a good example of a rare set of options that make a car worth more. Like a Mopar 440 Six Pack, Hurst Shifter, factory AC, convertible. At some point the matrix boils down the result to just a handful of cars and they become that Irresistible Object for collectors. As the age that grew up with that model gets into their 40s/50s/60s and can spend big dollars, more and more guys (dollars) are chasing fewer and fewer cars. Prices rise.

We witnessed it in the last 20 years with muscle cars, now those values have peaked and are falling as Boomers are now downsizing, shedding stuff, and looking to move to Florida, or looking to pack away money for passing on inheritance to kids, or packing away money for assisted living expenses in the future. My dad's in assisted living, and it's $10k/month, and his room is tiny.

Now it's Gen X's turn, and we grew up with 240s, P80s, and P2s. P80 and P2 values especially watch - they're going to climb for 10 or 20 years. Redblocks might have peaked in the post-Covid car craze, I don't know yet. It's hard to say.
