The craziest trend is all the people driving the 2nd and 3rd levels of pickup trucks as daily drivers, F250 and F350s. These vehicles tailgates never get lowered, let alone the bed gets used.

The “ landscape artist “ in my neighborhood cuts lawns for $150 pulling around a ridiculous large mower ona trailer , and will blame Obama when gas prices go up. My neighbors uses a guy with a station wagon who folds the handle and charges$35

How can gas prices be Obama's fault three years out of office? ? ? Down here in J-ville I have not heard the name Obama in a very long time. It's like his eight years never happened  .June

Oh yeah! It's hilarious the amount of people who daily full size pickups for no reason.
I take care of my grandma's grass, and I use my wagon. Usually, there's at least one or two other lawn guys working that day on neighbors' yards, and one guy has a new Silverado with a utility trailer and a couple nice zero turn mowers. I'm sure he laughs at me a little, then wonders how I fit a mower, trimmer, blower, gas, etc in a little Volvo wagon. It works quite well, and I don't have the overhead of paying for 9 miles per gallon and all that equipment!

It boggles the mind how/why people pay $60k+ for these pickup trucks.

I see plenty of Ford Raptors around here. They’ll never see sand. A $5k sand rail will be more fun and have far lower operating costs. It will be more fun because you’re not risking your $70k daily driver on the trails. If you spend $10k, the sand rail would be faster than the Raptor also.

I agree.. And it boggles the mind how much people are paying for a lot of cars these days. I just don't understand how most people can afford the cars I see in their driveways. However, I do realize that this is partially due to the fact that I am the type of person who wants to get as many miles of of a car as possible as opposed to a new car every few years. I seem to be in the minority in that these days.

EDIT: I get it.

My tennis team mate had the 67. Clean, stock but with exhaust work. I had the 351 Windsor so it was torquey and made noise with the exhaust.

Everything is leased. BMW has the highest lease rate in the industry, 70% .

Volvo lowest, 30%

The lease/buy new/ buy used is the simplest financial IQ test there is.

Yeah, I'm amazed at what people pay for leases per month. That doesn't even consider the down payment that is sometimes required.

It also drives me nuts that those manufacturers seem to be building their cars for a lease term + CPO period for second buyers. I don't think they care how the car lasts after 5-6 years. I don't have hard evidence to support this but from reading various online forums (which we all know are always 100% accurate sources of information.... :D ) it sure seems like the "luxury" brands are building for short term owners.

I totally believe that manufacturers are doing that, and it's unfortunate. They really don't care about longevity anymore.
Leasing is just a stupid concept to me... it would probably be cheaper to just rent a car from Enterprise! The most expensive car I've bought was my '03 S60 for $1k. Then, my daily drivers have been pretty damn reliable, and the two cars that have been my consistent daily drivers have cost $300 each... less than most peoples' monthly payments!

Back to Volvo on leasing now... it really seems like they're pushing that type of thing now. I'm sure you've seen the Care by Volvo subscription services? They're really gearing themselves towards millenials who don't care about cars, but still feel they need to have one to waste space on the roads. I'm one of the few in this generation whose world revolves around cars... I couldn't live without owning several cars! I have 0w40 running through my veins!
