Pick and Pull Parts Offer from Timmy in AZ

Post by timmybdaddyof3 »

Just putting this out there, and if the Mods would like to move or delete this I have no issue with that.
If you want to pursue this offer, PM me and I will give you my direct contact info; I in NO way want this to become an advertisement or negotiation thread
First off let me make my intentions clear, I am not trying to drum up business, but being that Arizona is prime for non-rusted decent condition used car parts, and the parts for our cars can be hard to find and ridiculously expensive, I am putting this out there. I have not and will not make this offer on other forums that I participate in because there overall lack of etiquette and professionalism gives me no desire to.
I do what I do because I love it, not because I have to – I made significantly more money when I was consulting, but I just plain enjoy this more.
It is the mentality exhibited rmmagow’s etiquette post that made me even think of doing this. So here goes.
I own an independent shop in Arizona, and “clients” quickly become “friends”, and that leads to all sorts of fun twists. One of them is junk yard hunting, and as it stands right now generally myself, and one of my guys spend at least one day a week hunting parts in the pull it yourself yard’s where I have great relationships with the operators. Being that this is not part of my main business the rules we follow go something like this:
- My cost is your cost
- Shipping is what it is, and for the smaller items USPS priority boxes work well.
- My time is worth what you think its worth (I can appreciate the rmmagow “I want to tip” all the way to “I have been out of work for 3 months and just need to get it running as cheap as possible so I can’t pay for your time”; money is nice, reputation is even better)
- It’s used, I can’t warranty it but I will do my best to make sure it’s good before I give it to you (and most of the yards will do a 30 day warranty but your still stuck dealing with the shipping)
- There is no inventory control or surplus stock, I don’t know when or if I can get it, but if you let me know you need it, as soon as I find it I will call or text you with what I can do; If I can’t get a hold of you and the deal is too good to pass up I will usually move on it under the assumption that “you didn’t tell me you found one, so you still need it”

If you live in the Phoenix area and are stuck dealing with something; feel free to get my info; again not for business, but just a fellow MVS member willing to take a look.

I agree with Timmy with how good of condition these parts in the SW are in. I ship parts all over the world from here. People are amazed of how clean the parts arrive.

Timmy ... It's a pleasure to work with the guys in the white hats

Do you want to do this via PM or should we have a sticky thread in the parts forum , all subject to matts approval of course?

It might be useful for people to understand what's out there.

Kudos to you again

If Matt wants to sticky it I am cool with it, but I think at some point the thread should be locked, and if people need something hit me by PM and I will gladly send my contact info.

Only reason reason I am making the offer is the overall intelligence level on this board...its a solid community of people who just want to maintain and enjoy their cars and not get taken for a ride when something goes wrong. I got into this business purely by accident, and a big part of it was being sick of watching people getting ripped off; I want to offer anything I can to the members of this site - when I hear the story of rounded drain plugs all that runs through my head is "I can probably score you a decent used (but oem) pan for $20", at the same time I don't want to turn it into a "sales" thread or have it get cluttered with the "I wants" and "how much".
I hope all that makes sense...its kind of like Roberts videos, when I first got mine a few months ago I had the door lock issues, I was ready to order 4 new actuators (hey I get wholesale pricing right?!?), then I stumble across this site and his video on the fact that they fail with heat and how to repair them...saved me a couple of bucks, I know the problem won't come back (with our Arizona heat), it was just a better solution...I strive to be the better solution to both my clients and friends; that's what is here at MVS, and that's what I want to give back

Got it. I'm thinking a sticky post in the parts forum directing NooBs to PM you.

Thanks again for doing this.

Axles are one thing I hear on this board perpetually in short supply. That's a big thing to harvest though, a lot of labour

Axles, 10 minute job in the junk yard. I pull OEM axles all the time. I probably have 3 of them now. Need boots but they are not making any noise.

I was thinking the same thing, you don't have to be careful pulling them it out, and you don't have to put it back together... that's why I love junk yard shopping, is a great way to learn what not to do
