Engine management malfunction light Topic is solved

Since I had to start the engine twice to get it running the engine management malfunction light came up and will not go off.

Turning the ignition key the fuel pump does work but most of the times I have to turn the ignition key two times again to get the car started.

Could this be a partly plugged fuel filter?
And how do I reset the engine management malfunction light?

sounds like possible fuel filter to me.

whent you say the fuel pump works, can you hear it prime as soon as you turn the key

Yes, I can clearly hear it turning the key prior to engine starting.

oh, so the pump is probably working fine then, at least thats good news,

try draining the fuel filter may have water in there

& reset light here http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/reset-40.htm

incidently mine did it the other day, had to turn key, 3rd time lucky
have no idea why & it hasnt done it since......
i will have a look at draining mine.

sorry, missread your prob, think dealer has to reset this one,

as error codes need to be cleared from the ecu.
