S40 cigarette lighter plug socket

Post by HMP12 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 2:47 pm

hello everyone i have an s40 2001 my cigarette lighter plug isn't working i have check the fuse and wasn't burned out but i decided to replace it anyway but still no good so i was recommended to just replace the socket itself but there's a problem i don't no where and how to remove the center console so i can replace the cigarette plug can someone please explain how to remove the console, its not an urgent repair but i would like to be able to charge my phone in road trips. thank you

and one other thing not about the cigarette socket, on my doors the panels come out and i was wondering if anyone knows where to buy something to keep them from coming off every time i try to shut my door, i would really appreciated i know these stuff are little things but i just got done fixing my car with stalling problems and now i'm focusing in fixing the small things and making my car more comfortable. i have pictures of what i'm working with i'm in the process of cleaning the entire car since the car was sitting in my garage for 2 months don't mind the dirt thanks again. :)

IIRC...it's been a few years, but I don't recall it being very difficult to remove the console:

Pull the cover from the bottom of the armrest compartment - there should be 2 screws there;
Pull the "wood" shifter surround and I think there are 2 screws there;
Pull the rubber mat that is lining the slot under the radio and push the two tabs toward the center (or maybe there are screws there too(?)).

From there, I think the console just lifts out.
Like I said, I don't remember it being very complicated.
