I have a friend who offered to look at it later this evening. He said he has ramps. I told him I would buy him and his family pizza. If he can just get under there and take a look. I will report back tonight. And if anybody else has any ideas. Please leave them here.

Fixed it!!!! It was a vacum hose under the car it runs to the back somewhere. It was unhooked. And sucking air in. Making a "puffing" "knocking" noise. I could put my finger over it. And it stopped. Hooked it back up. And no more noise! This was the simplest thing. And I was scared the motor was about to blow up. Thank you all for your help!!

Evap canister return line? Only thing I can think of that would draw a vacuum to anything in the back.

Well done!! Isolating noises by hose is one of the best things I learned years ago, and as engine compartments got more cramped, it gets more useful. If your neighbors see you doing it, they do call the truck with the guys with butterfly nets though.

I listen to my old cars componemts when they aren't broken to get a sense of changes from stuff to help troubleshooting.

How about a worn water pump allowing the the impeller blades to contact the casting?
