2004 S60 PS leak
Seems my car is leaking power steering fluid from the driver's side. I've got a mostly clear liquid and PS fluid is down quite a bit. I couldn't check extensively as it's getting dark here, but are there hoses in that area? Certain items I should check?

Check on the under side of the PS reservoir..ours had almost come loose and was causing the appearance of a leak when the actual rack was not leaking at all. It was easy to fix!

The p/s lines rust and leak at the rack. Search forums about the easiest way to replace the lines

This is what I got:

As you can see, the area is wet. I removed the heat shield and brace in area to get a better look. If I'm seeing the lines correctly, they don't look bad or to be leaking, just what seems like power steering fluid in area and again, it's the only fluid I see going low. From what I can tell it almost looks like where the steering input goes is even wet, but it rained here overnight so I don't know if that's from the area somehow getting wet (certainly didn't help diagnosis)

Those lines/rack have been recently replaced. If it's sweeping where it goes into the rack, may not be properly tighten or there was some dirt when the line was secured. There is quite some pressure inside these piping. Another common leaking points are at the reservoir- 2 connections, and at the pump - again 2 connections.

Yeah I'm seeing some residue around the reservoir but that still doesn't account for the area in the pictures. I'll have to clean the area and monitor closely as I don't want to pay out for something I could do myself. I added some Lucas stop leak to the system (a very small amount) and I'm keeping my eye on it. I tried to tighten the one line I could get too but it seemingly didn't want to budge so I put it all back together right after posting the pictures above. It did look somewhat new to me but I didn't want to make that assumption, though you confirmed my thoughts.
Can you email me a photo of where that heat shield goes... I took mine off and can't figure out where it goes back on....
