2006 V70 Instrument Cluster circuit board swap?
My information display area on my instrument cluster is very temperamental, sometimes displaying what looks like hieroglyphics for me to decode. I was at the junkyard and found a 2001 XC70 with an intact cluster, only to find out later the pin connector on the back is different then mine. XC70 is green. V70 is white (much smaller). Can I swap the circuit boards for the information display only from the XC70 to my V70 and have it still work as it should?

I am in the middle of dealing with this issue. My friend was able to repair the board on our 03 S80 T6 with the green plug. I was supposed to give him the 2002 V70XC (green plug) to repair also but got anxious and decided to give it a shot since I had repaired two S70 ABS Modules. Big mistake and damaged the traces on the board so I've sent it out for repair. Don't know whether the board traces can be repair yet.

.
The VIN and mileage info has to be transferred to another board but not sure if it's backwards compatible. Data transfer cost is in addition to the board repair. It is always best to just send in your existing board. Rarely do they go bad enough to be non-reparable.
This is the company I sent mine to. David thinks he maybe able repair the traces?

After sending mine I saw this company. Saw that my friend the Volvo Specialist in CA had left a review.

Here is another company that people on other forums have used.

Ok awesome. I think in hindsight trying to swap the 2 boards for the information display areas is really hard for me to do. My experience with soldering is terrible. I'll look into one of these places. I just had the cluster out yesterday and didn't think to write down the number on it. I've taken this thing out more time then I care to admit to look at the backside. Thanks for the links and info. Much appreciated. Hopefully all goes smoothly with your board and they can recover it!

Early years 2001-2004 is different from later years.
Best is to get the panel for your generation 2001-2009 S60.
The eBay price is around $60.
Most eBay sellers don't state the odo reading so you will end up with either the correct odo or a diff odo reading.

generally you can swap entire clusters as long as you stick with the same year. You have an 06, so if you find a junkyard with an 06, it might be worth grabbing the cluster to try.
My local U pull it style yard gives you a 30 day warranty, so if it doesnt work you can return it, and try another.
Only thing is the mileage. If the donor car has a lower mileage, jackpot, the cluster odometer will come up to match your internal computer mileage. If the donor mileage is higher than yours, it will not come down, and it'll display the higher number
when i was hunting for an odometer for my 02. I found 2 that worked, 1 rebuilt unit, but with a much higher mileage, and a replaced unit that had a lower mileage, that came up to display the correct mileage.

Wonder if the correct mileage is now permanent in the DIM?

Anyone use European Electric for a dash panel repair? My 2002 V70's message info panel goes away in about one minute.

USPS should be delivering my 2002 V70 XC DIM tomorrow. Mine cost more than the web price of $135.00 and took more time with the extra repairs due to the damage I caused. David went out of his way to redo the board and still charged a very reasonable price as it could have been more. David is easy going, nice to work and answers calls and texts. Will update as soon as I install it, hopefully tomorrow.

As soon as it was plugged in the interior lights began to function properly. Will come on when the door is open and automatically shut off after locking them. Will polish the cover tomorrow and time permitting register the car for some road testing.
That's pollen from the front door to the car. Everything will be yellow soon for about 3 weeks and when it rains the streets runs yellow also. Have been sneezing all night as I mowed the lawn, very very dusty / polleny. Will update again after putting on a few miles.
