Oil Pressure Sensor '04 XC

I have a small oil leak I believe. I first checked the head and areas above, but I think it's coming from a sensor on the front / left side / radiator side of the block, between the pan and the head. Under the intake. Everything around it is covered in oil. Not enough quantity to drip however.

I searched forever in the parts diagrams and finally found this -

Can this just use a snug-up? Oil can't leak though the housing itself I assume - it's at a seal ring or it's just loose?

Kind of hard to get to, but I spied it while looking upward from suspension and motor mount work.

Ah, FCP has these useful tips....

External oil leaks: It is very common for an oil pressure sensor to leak oil after many years and miles. Sometimes the oil sealing ring is captured on the threads so if an external oil leak occurs the whole switch should be replaced.

Internal oil leaks: It’s possible for an internal oil leak to make it past the electrical seals and into the electrical connector. It’s important to catch a failure like this early, to avoid oil from wicking up into the vehicle harness.

I changed the oil and 1 qt of trans fluid today, so I wiped up that area and managed to get a big wrench on it from below. It didn’t budge, it’s not loose.

Did you end up replacing the oil pressure switch? I just looked under my S60 and saw a leak that seems to be coming from my Oil pressure switch. Just curious on any issues you had replacing it. It looks like a pain to replace.

Careful with these they're often tapered and easy to strip/mess up torque. I screwed up one on a Mazda a few years ago.

I received it, but haven’t gotten to it yet. It’s a good sized hex. I’m thinking I’ll get an offset box end wrench with some length. Looks like you have to go in from below.

I finally replaced my oil pressure switch today in my S60 t5. I broke the switch loose from underneath with a 15/16 wrench. Everything else was done above. The electric fan and turbo air pipe came out to give me a little room. I did go back underneath to tighten the thing up with the box wrench end of my big Snap-on wrench. The biggest pain was starting the new switch into the block. I put the switch from up top with my wife underneath guiding me to the block port.

Idk about P2 Volvo, but my 1998 bmw 528i developed a leak right through the body of the oil P sensor at around 170K miles. Replaced using TRW brand, all is good. It was a 24-mm wrench for the BMW.

Quick calculation 15/16 wrench is ~ 24 mm.
