Gearbox difference 2005 V70 2.4NA

Post by Hottohoren »

Hey,
I have a question regarding gearboxes. My gearbox model is 9482209. Engine B5244S2. As i see, in gearbox reference:
Till 2004 the numbers were: 9482052, 1208978, 9482078, 8251557
From 2004: 8252103, 9482209, 9482380, 9482398.

Are there any differences between this gearbox models? Can I install pre-2004 gearboxes to post 2004 V70?

Only if final drive ratios and gear ratios match. For certain volvos equipped with say automatic transmission, they used diesel transmissions on specific engines e.g bifuel (b5244sg).

FWD base model 2003-2007 transmissions will be fine.

Or you can take any 2003-2009 and swap final drive from old transmission to new. You'll have a chance to install a new filter, too. And torque converter.
