It's pretty typical pre Christmas weather.

By the middle of next week it will almost be tropical up here! Year end we are being told (unlikely) that we may scrape above 0C! Heat wave.

The downside to the cold weather is it makes removing plastic parts really a waste of time at the junkyard as they just break.

Installed some new foglights today to replace my smashed up old ones. I cheaped out and bought aftermarket brand from IPD, I think they were about $80 and seem to be very good quality. The brand is TYC and they have glass lenses and an height adjustment screw just like the Austrian originals. I couldn't bring myself to spend $250 each on the Volvo ones for a part like this.

Today I attempted the AW55 backflush. I did manage to get some gunk out, but because of some technical errors on my part I couldn't repeat the backflush cycle more than once(I dropped the oil on the floor and made a mess).

In the oil however were small loose pieces of what I think was clutch pack material. Tomorrow morning it will become apparent if I managed to get enough material out of the filter. In any case, it was very easy to backflush, if I only I didnt drop the oil.

I reinstalled my repaired DIM to my 2007 V70 w/151.7k.
Every gauge, LED and message element went crazy.
Up Fix, in Georgia, did the repair.
Their website offered a special price of $299. It's usually triple that.

i use a portable heat gun on plastic parts when it gets too cold. Do your yards restrict something like that from going in?

Yes. No heat guns of any sort, no jacks, no sawsalls, no grinders. I understand their reasons to prevent fires, but it can be difficult with old cars when ou cannot use heat. I have had to bring home whole suspensions with the hubs attached so that I can heat them to separate and then take stuff back. Downside is returned items only get instore credit. Means I have to go back to use the credit up............

Finally had the XC70 back from the shop last week with it's new heater core... and an empty wallet now!
Not had the time to drive the car until this week, it's warm and cosy inside and everything feel tight.
It took them ages to fix it. The good, i could see some new parts free of charge, pipes for the heater core are new, the AC sensor under dash is new with a gaz refill and a new isolation foam, a good clean of the evaporator.
The bad, hand lever gaiter is crack open, gear lever gaiter worse than before, slight scratches on the lower dashboard, the steering wheel is not straight, two bulbs on the headlight switch out.

All in all happy to have my car back on the road
