I confirm on my 1999MY V70 I used a Magnefine in reverse to that shown. Thus flow coming from the transmission >>> to the top hose on the rad. Because I was cutting this hose anyway I did not touch my Green clip. Left it as it was. I used a 3/8" Magnefine, (not avialble in teh UK), but got it from you lot across the pond. I believe Wix do a similar item.

On a 1999 Volvo I found I had to put an elbow into teh hose to be sure of not kinking it. I used the Toyota spec oil. I have the AW5 (5 speed box). i think 850s can use Dextron. MY1999 5 speed cannot. I have an 'L' on my box indicator, thus L34RDP.
I also broke my dipstick, old and brittle when cold, but it will not fall into teh box. There is a stop-end on my box so after removing the dip-stick tube it came out easily. Had I known about the stop-end I'd have left it there! I used the broken end to maek a temprary Dipstick out of a tie-wrap pushed through a washer. Sorted.

I bought 2 x Magnefien in error follwoing advice from a 850 owner doing his.

After a flush, on my 1999 V70 AW5 I used a 3/8 in the flow line (not the return, no wiggle room). I understand the 4 speed 850 uses 1/2" line. I put one in my PAS line too. Also 3/8".

Remeber earlier cars trans flow is in reverse to later cars. Thus on mine direction of flow is from Transmission into the upper port on the radiator.

I have a 2008 XC90 and planning on installing a Magnefine filter. But before I start cutting a $106 hose, I just want to ask if anyone has ever installed one of these in their 2008 XC90. I measured the OD of the pipe connected to the upper radiator and it measured 15/32. Much bigger than 3/8. I dont know the ID of the hose but any info from those who installed a magnefne filter on their 2008 XC90 is much appreciated. The rubber hose is crimped on to the pipe. The only way find the ID is to cut it.

I believe the pipe that goes in the radiator is around 1/2" at where is has the two o-ring seals inside.

Gently press both sides of the green clip against the pipe, and while keeping the clip down this way, start shacking gently and pulling the hose with some force, it will come out without issues. You'll want to have the two yellow o-rings replaced.

After a full trans flush, I installed a 3/8 Magnefine filter on my XC90. Wow, its very tight fit. I lost some skin trying to install it. I cut the hose about 2.5 inches from where the rubber hose is crimped on the metal tube. This way, I was able to position the filter on the side of the radiator.
