2002 s60 non terbo throttle body problem

Post by jim8923 » Thu Nov 10, 2016 12:48 pm

Hi guys I saw lots of old threads on the 02 t/body but nothing new (maybe just could not find it)
I think i have t/body issue no power only revs to 2000 - 3000 rpm up and down on it own The only code i get is p2177 think that is for 02 sensor?? Tryed cleaning with T/body cleaner, did not help. Talked to dealer said $1500 to fix. Not wild about puting $1500.00 in a $2500.00 car with 200k miles on it. Looked for used/rebuilt T/body on Ebay
anyware from $100.00 to 300.00 My question is will a used/rebuilt t/body from a 02 s60. Work
or must it go to the dealer for softwere??? They said thay would not program a used/rebuilt T/body must use their new part!!! Do I have any other options. At first i suspected the MAF I did remove and clean with MAF cleaner no change in the car. I get no codes for ETM or MAF so how can i be sure that it is the T/body and not the MAF or something else. Thanks for the help

Xemodex is a good option that many have used. Their website has some diagnostic charts that will help you determine if it's a TB problem or something else. If needed they will rebuild your TB and warranty the work. And their techs are very helpful. In one case, it turned out to be electrical problems and in the other it was a failing TB.

Thanks for the info I have herd of Xemodex i downloaded a flow chart from there site. To
see if it is a TB or MAF. I also talked to a tech. from a company BBA- Reman was told that they could rebuild my TB for $250.00 and they would bench test first, if OK will send back for $35.00 + shipping. And it will not need to be re-programed since it is from the same s60 dont know for sure that that is true, but that is what i was told. Used BBA for a DIM rebuild 2years ago which I am happy with. Also told by local shop it could be a vacume leak, He wants to do a SMOKE test, too look for leaks.says he has a smoke machine??? Has anyone ever herd of a smoke test???? Or is he just blowing smoke, I do not know!!! But as of now the $250.00 rebuild from BBA- Reman
looks good, as Xemodex was $600.00 to replace and re-program. Do you have any knowledge of the smoke test?? I a-s-s-u-m-e that would cause a problem with the MAF if the car had a bad vacume leak. The flow chart looks fairly easy to follow. I will post when i do that. Almost forgot a local shop will re-program a new TB for $110.00 but I cannot find any good prices for a TB for a non-terbo, All the good prices seem to be for terbo's arround $100-$150.00. If anyone knows where I can find a good price for a new non terbo TB please let me know.
thx
jim
