More 2001 V70 T5 maintenance. I moved the car around in the garage to make access to the driver side. Removed the right front strut and right axle. Broke my T40 Torx bit in the process, but got another today. After I got the T40 home I see that Craftsman Torx bits are made in China. The broken one was from Taiwan. I need to upgrade with a full set of a premium brand.

Next parts order is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Sunday). We shall see.

Continued maintenance efforts on 2001 V70 T5: The replacement drivers side strut and axle arrived and the strut has been reassembled. The pivot bearing was cleaned, repainted and lubricated. The PS brake caliper has been cleaned and guide pins lubricated. The new pads were installed. Four new bolts installed and torqued for crankshaft damper. Later today brake hoses and a lower ball joint arrived.

More work on 2001 V70 T5. Today I installed the driver side lower ball joint, new brake disc, bolted the brake caliper on the hub, new strut assembly, and driver side axle. The axle was easier than I expected. Some people have reported very difficult install. It does make a satisfying thunk when the C clip goes into place.

Worked on 2001 V70 T5 extended maintenance. Installed both front brake hoses and flushed the front brake calipers. Put the front wheels on and removed the jack stands. Tried to start - nothing. Reconnected the battery. Started fine with battery connected. Topped off fresh coolant mixture, power steering fluid, and brake fluid. I was really pleased not to have engine lights and codes considering everything I had worked on and around. Test drive feels much more stable and quiet. The old shocks were really bad, but still felt firm mounted on the car. Very satisfying work.

The 05' developed misfires last week, but no CEL. Actually, that's not true, I got a funny message and a blinking CEL while trying to go up a steep hill. It said "shift down while accelerating" or something stupid like that.

Yesterday I installed new OEM plugs and new Bosch coil packs, and everything is well now.

I believe the coils were the original ones and the car has 150k miles on it now. The plugs had just shy of 30k on them.

This is getting better. My daughters 04' (Bertha) developed misfires yesterday, same thing and the coils must be ancient.
She really wants to drive her car during the graduation parade tonight. So when I get home from work I am going to swap in the new coils from the 05'
Then I will order a new set and throw them back in my car next week.
