Timing marks '04 V70

Post by Faust »

I have reason to think that my engine has "jumped time". Is there any way to get a look at the timing mark on the crank pulley without pulling the accessory belt and lower cover? I just want to check that all the timing marks line up, or do not.

You don't have to pull the serpentine belt, but you will have to pull the timing belt cover. Then just use a 30mm socket on the crank to turn the motor over and you will see (from the top) two marks on the teeth of the crank pulley that should line up around an arrow on the oil pump.
By the way, this section of the forum is for the P80, 1998-2000 V70. You would want this in the P2 section, 2001-2007 V70.
