good afternoon all
I have 3 codes that I hope to get some help and guidance with.
code P1550
code P0442
code P1171
.
just some background info.... ABS, (STC triangle) are lit up and sometimes check engine.
My biggest concern is the brakes. I bought a high quality master kit and replaced everything except calipers. I even replaced a tired looking flex hose. the brakes feel and work great.
the car runs great the only operational change I have seen is a significant increase in millage. about an extra 100 miles per tank full. I do not know if this is relevant to any of the codes or not.
the vehicle is a Volvo S-60, 2.4 T year 2001.
I am open to any information or suggestions.
thanks in advance
Brad

Re: help with fault codes PLEASE
Hello,
The codes you provided are generic ones. Volvo specific codes are more informative.
P0442: The dread EVAP system small leak code. Could be a gas cap with a worn gasket or leak in one of the hoses. When I got this one in my '02 it was the "J" hose against the charcoal canister-a $20 part for which you can substitute any 1/2" strong hose.
I was a dufas and bought the genuine part.
P1171: A generic fuel/air mixture code. I don't know if it's due to an intake air leak or dirty MAF sensor or what.
P1550: A generic speed sensing / control circuit code. Again, get specific codes from a Volvo VIDA or BSR-PPC reader.

If ever you're near Hackensack, NJ, I will read them for you. I take it you're in Buffalo, NY.
