For a reload - do 'they' need the car or can the reload be accomplished on just the BCM?

I wouldn't expect dealers to be able to do it off the car. That would be within the realm of aftermarket reverse engineering or factory programming tools.
If you're determined not to visit dealership then an indie who specializes in Volvos would be your next stop, if there are any within reasonable distance.

I notice on xemodex VIN pre-programmed BCMs with DTSC & 2WD aren't available for newer P2s. The question is whether it can't be done or they don't have appropriate cores at the moment. They would be the ones to know.
Tell them you found a suitable good used core and are inquiring whether they can service it into a pre-programmed unit for your vehicle. They won't be able to offer their lifetime warranty unless you opt in to their rebuild service, which is more $ than cloning which was previously attempted. Since you're supplying your own used core they might give you slight discount. If the answer is "pre-programming can't be done for BCMs with this particular option package" I would be interested what the technical roadblock is even if there's no known workaround at the moment, or it's cost prohibitive.
Also ask them if they want their paperweight back once you get a working BCM in the car. If it was a good core before the data clone it might be salvageable if they dabble in replacing SOCs/eeproms etc. If corrupt code bricked it that may be what's necessary, and it's no use to you.

The Erie used BCM from a 2009 2.5T with DSTC arrived today.

S U C C E S S

At first light off after install, I received the center orange triangle, a triangle light with skid marks, a message reading "ANTI-SKID TEMPORARILY OFF", and the "ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" message. The Brake Failure message and red ABS idiot light were gone. I was thinking, "I take this as a win"! After about 20' of driving, the "ANTI SKID..." message and the triangle with the skid marks were dissapeared. I was left with the "ESSR" message. I pulled out the AUTEL MaxiDiag EU702 scanner for the old 2003 V70 to read the codes that I could. The Brake Pedal Position Sensor code was the only code stored, so I erased it. So far so good!

Does anyone know of a good code reader for the SRS, ABS, and other Volvo specific codes for the newer P2 cars? I found a unit on line called iCarsoft i906, does anyone have any knowledge on this code reader?

Thank you for everyone's help.
I hope this message provides others with some guidance.

I quick tip, either a 10mm or an 8mm deep socket on a long extension placed over the tabs of the lower air box and pushed down hard makes easy work of removing the lower air box. The socket forces the fours pieces of the clip together and allows the lower air box to be easily released.

Thanks.

I'll update this if anything else occurs regarding this issue.

Now what to do with the BCM paperweight......

I forgot to mention - the odometer reading remained the same. I did not test cruise control but I assume it functions given everything seemed to be resolved.

yagger -

It looks like Vida Dice 2014D which I located requires the use of a separate computer.

Are there stand alone units?

Thanks

Dice is just a hardware interface between the Vida software running on a computer and the vehicle. No, there is no standalone (doesn't require a computer) version.
If you're looking to reload the BCM software yourself, be aware, software reloads are considered programming. As such the '2014D' version won't do this as it would have to download the vehicle software files from Volvo servers, and they will require you to install the current/latest version of VIDA before you can do that.

OK - then a hand held scanner with Vidas such as the iCarsoft i906 will read the ZVolvo specific codes for the newer model (my current code reader stops at MY 2005. I do not have a lap top and if I cannot 'program' then the system which required a lap top from my point of view has no added benefit.

Not quite clear. After clearing the brake pedal position code, which would have been stored but not active, are there any remaining warning lights/messages when you drive the car?
