disconnect headlamp washer spray?

Post by ptV70 » Wed Sep 27, 2017 2:07 pm

After annual inspection, was told our 2007 S60 headlamps would not pass next year because of lack of clarity. I used one of the after-market "kits" and the plastic lenses look good. My local independent Volvo mechanic says that the spray from the headlamp washers is too strong and may wear away the new coating. So -- how best to disconnect the spray? We want to be able to use the windshield sprays without activating the headlamp sprays. Many thanks.
P.S. Unlike our 2005 V70, the S60 has overly-complicated headlamp spray units that pop out of the bumper.

There must be a second hose running from the fluid reservoir, possibly near the motor at the bottom. The headlamps do wear because of the plastic cover, don't think the fluid would affect that much, rather sun exposure is the main culprit.

Not sure I agree with the fluid causing too much damage. As above I'd say the sun is the big thing.

However something like this on the right hose should do the trick. This is for the regular wipers but the principle should be the same. As long as theres the one pump for the washers on the lights and the windscreen.
