Stuck Piston - 3-Ton Floor Jack

Post by Oka » Sat Oct 21, 2017 6:23 pm

Can't find anything in particular about a stuck piston in the low profile floor jack.
The jack has a very slow lifting, then I noticed this. I have bled the air in the system.
Any help?
Thanks.

I used a pry bar a few times, it kept sticking.

A few years back, I bought it new and never being serviced. Though, I never aired it out on first use.
I did not read the instructions.

Sure I have not much to lose, so, I turned it upside down and pumped more than enough DW-40 inside
the piston hood. Let it sit for a few seconds and used the pry bar a few times and it started responding.
After a few fooling around with it, it responded. Now, eight handle bar controls had the jack in the upright
position. Just awesome!

Thanks!

I've read the jack should be stored with the piston retracted to prevent rust.

Sure, at least for the springs also. It has always been stored “retracted” (that is with the handle bar straight up).
Thanks.
