US synthetic != actual synthetic though.

But regardless an oil change is due even if semi synthetic is fine for the engine.

Doubt that's part of the issue though.

2001 V70 2.4T Rough growling when accelerating / Volvo code ECM-644A

So, this issue is still happening, and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

The symptoms I'm currently seeing started on 10/30/2017 when I put the car back into service after replacing the oil seals. I had removed and reinstalled all of the timing components at that point. The symptoms include:

- Rough growling from engine during acceleration.
- Increased fuel consumption
- Relatively recent - on 12/26/2017 - Check engine light illuminated with OBDII code P0014 - B Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 1 - If this was related to the work I did with the timing components on 10/30, not sure why it would take so long to get thrown.

I put the timeline up here if anyone cares to take a look and share your suggestions.

Cam position codes can be delayed as far as I know so that does sound like it could be the issue. You'd need to trigger a specific set of circumstances for the engine to notice for real or something. The increased consumption also fits.

I'd still say the oil changes have nothing to do with it.

Oil can effect the cvvt cams, mine kept showing sluggish reaction on vida.
Changed oil and filter and the code never came back. It WAS in desperate need, filter looked tragic.

Run the cvvt live test in vida, it pointed me to an oil flow problem , old filter and wrong oil.
You never know.

Yeah - that VIDA you just got up and running is going to pay for itself again. While I would have to dick around changing solenoids - you can go in and read out what they are doing and see if they are problem.

US synthetic != actual synthetic though.
That line gave me a bad C++ flashback.
