Well, the bad news was the JB weld was fully cured. I had a 75 watt incandescent lamp on it in the garage for 18 hours. The good news is that it was not a major deal to dremel off the epoxy.

I actually went to Volvo and purchased that little O ring and it does not appear to be leaking. RELIEF

Thanks for the great help.

Update: the line started to leak again. I purchased another PS pump(same brand unfortunatly) and a new pressure line, intending to replace both. I was confident that would resolve the leak for sure. I raised the car and then realized that replacing that line was more than I wanted to do myself, at least during winter. So I took the car to an Volvo specialist. He found that the threads for the pressure line were cut too deep on the both aftermarket pumps and the nut on the line hit against the body of the pump before the o-ring could seal internally. The OEM went back on, leak solved but whine/growl returned.
I had originally ordered a new aftermarket pump because my luck with "remaned" parts has been terrible (all volvo pumps are remanned). Also they all seemed to come without the pulley and I was not confident I could deal with that, it looks like a specialist tool is required.
So I bought and installed a used OEM pump. Guess what? It makes more noise than my original. At this point I guess I will live with a noisy pump.
Has anyone found an aftermarket pump that doesn't leak or a quality remanufactured unit?

Thanks

What hydraulic fluid you use? Original/Pentosin? Also when the last time it was changed? I remember PS was noisy on wife's now sold 02 V70. The car's steering system was filled with ATF instead of the right fluid. The noise went away as soon as I flushed the system with 2 liters of Pentosin CHF202.

They all are rebuilt, even those $300+ from Volvo or ZF (Bosch now) - in EU manufacturers must follow directive that regulates amount of industrial/mechanical trash generated. They rebuild everything. Have to.

My PS misery in 05 XC70 ended couple of years ago when I bought a new one for $380. At that time I was purchasing a new suspension and essential steering parts for $2k+, FCP gave me 10% discount, that's about $200, so I've added a new pump to the order and it cost me about $180 at the end, which is not that bad. I have 2 used pumps in garage, one day will split one and check myself what is grinding there.

These pumps last a long time. I would definitely arm myself with year compatibility and hit the pick n pulls

Yes, I used the correct pentosin fluid and with all the leaking and pump replacing it is a very clean green.
I really don't feel confident about another used OEM pump. I am 2 for 2 with OEM pumps. I could not see any identification on the supposedly new pumps I tried. Even they were a little noisey. Perhaps they were remanned also. I could feel all the pumps vibrate as I was hearing the noise, the OEM ones much more than the supposedly new pumps.
Has anyone removed the pulley. What tools are required? Something is grinding inside the pump and I wonder what could a rebuilder do to remedy that?
