2005 S60R Immob fault after ECM TCM removal

Post by all2many » Thu Jul 19, 2018 6:29 pm

was getting transmission message so thought should clean contacts on the fist TCM so got the removal tool but could not fit it to the TCM without first removing the ECU. So removed both cleaned contacts let dry replaced and now will not start with immobilizer message. Hooked up VIDA can read but will not erase faults. Disconnected battery will leave till morning and hope it is back to normal. Anyone have an idea on how to correct this (no go to stealer ship please)

no luck with that but not giving up yet. All I did was pull the parts cleaned them and put them back and that set off that my key won't work.

Post up the VIDA screen so we can see what messages are coming up.

The ECM and TCM are the last things to look at for troubleshooting, they are reliable and usually are 1:1000-5000 odds to cause problems.

You had the battery disconnected when you removed the E/TCM units, I presume? VIDA doesn't say to do this, but they do offer this warning
Caution! New software can only be ordered when the control module is installed in the vehicle. VIDA reads off the new control module identity which is required to order the correct software. The software can only be ordered when the new control module is installed in the car.

Caution! Wait 2 minutes after the ignition has been switched off. The main relay must be voltage-free before the control module can be removed from the car. If the engine cooling fan runs on after the ignition has been switched off, wait until it stops and then wait for another 2 minutes.

Caution! Always check that the control module and control module box connector pins and sleeves are not bent or damaged. This may have caused the fault.

Removing the engine control module (ECM)

Above my pay grade, let Yagger or similar experts put their heads on this one.

I see a lot of commonality with the CEM onthecerrors that are major
