2004 V70 2.5T AWD - 2.5 AWD Wagon Rear Shock Quandry

Post by dono »

I own a 2004 V70 2.5T AWD 2.5 low pressure turbo AWD Wagon 222,000 miles and am replacing the rear shocks. Looks like original shocks still in there. Ive done the struts up front along with most of the front end and it greatly improved the ride. Now the rear looks simple with one complication. On my AWD wagon access to the torx socket on the top of the shock is limited. The top of the shock assembly is offset on the opening in the body metal so that there is no way to place a torx bit into the socket when removing the nut from the top of the shock.

Before I cut or drill to gain access to the torx socket on the top of the shock I wanted to see if I was missing anything obvious. Thanks...
